Salford CCG works in partnership with Salford CVS and Greater Manchester Mental Health team to support the newly established mental health service user forum.
This is a user-led group providing information and signposting to the community on mental health issues. The forum provides a voice to service users for planning, design and the delivery of services across the city and also assists with monitoring services through Salford Healthwatch.
Members allow the services the opportunity to co-design new person centred approaches in mental health, via hard to reach groups. The forum contributes to policy development and has recently contributed to the development of the new all age Mental Health Strategy. The mental health forum is committed to promoting ‘strength based’ recovery focus for all its members. The forum also offers peer-to-peer support, self-help opportunities and guidance alongside encouraging all members to reach their potential.
The forum works with partners such as Salford CCG, Salford City Council, Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust, Greater Manchester Mental Health Trust, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and Greater Manchester Police. On a monthly basis, the forum invites guest speakers whose work affects people living with mental health.
The forum has been successful in receiving a £10K grant from the Emotional Wellbeing & Mental Health Fund to develop the peer-support project over the next few years. The forum welcomes any other self-help user led mental health groups in Salford to become a part of the forum.
If you are interested in getting involved with the forum, come along to Pendleton Gateway, 12 – 2.30pm on the last Wednesday of every month. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
