Ageing is becoming a hot topic and much is being done to prepare the UK and the world for this increasing ageing population. Advances in health and social care since the inception of the NHS have led to people living longer lives, and consequently, the number of older people in our society is rising.

Salford has a resident adult population of 183,237, of which nearly 33,200 are aged 65 or older. The elderly population is projected to increase by almost 37%, to over 45,600, by 2030. This page includes some useful information to help those who work with and support older people.
