The Salford Clinical Commissioning Group and the council will be working with the Dementia Champions Group, partners and delivery services and organisations to hold a one off celebratory event on Friday 24 May between 10am and 2.30pm at the Lighthouse in Eccles, M50 1RE as part of the National Dementia Action Week.

This event will celebrate the hard work being done by Dementia Friends Champions across the city including those in the GP practices and promote the importance of:

  • How healthy living can help to reduce the risk of vascular dementia
  • The innovative intergenerational work that is happening in Salford to raise awareness about dementia to school children, their families and the community
  • How to get the right information at the right time
  • The wonderful support services in Salford for people living with dementia and their carers
  • Networking opportunities with a wide range of people from across Salford
  • Have fun

All people who have dementia or Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) and their carers are invited to the event alongside all the trained Dementia Friends Champions in Salford, including those in each GP practice.

The event will connect them with dementia services and support and advice. This will be done through speakers, presentations and stories from service users, carers, providers and their GP practice Dementia Champions, twenty plus organisation information stands and some singing and dancing from local groups.

Come and enjoy a great event, free refreshments and lunch. There is free car parking and if you need any help with transport or an accessible space, or have any dietary requirements please let Sandra know.

Also please let Sandra know when booking if you are a trained dementia friends champion so we can provide you with a certificate on the day to thank you for helping Salford become a dementia friendly city.
